About John Rowan
John Rowan brings over 30 years of distinguished service in law enforcement to this role. He retired as Chief of Detectives for the Suffolk County Police Department in January 2024, where he led a division of 500 personnel and spearheaded high-profile cases such as the Gilgo Beach Task Force investigation, resulting in the apprehension of a serial killer.
Throughout his career, John has demonstrated exceptional leadership in addressing gang violence, managing complex investigations, and fostering collaboration with federal agencies. His expertise extends to international efforts, where he worked to combat transnational criminal threats. Recognised for his innovative approach to law enforcement, John received the Joseph Monteith Award for Innovation in Law Enforcement and holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership.
