Senior Advisor

Alex joined Conflict International as a Senior Advisor in 2024.

As an award-winning documentary filmmaker, author and broadcaster, Alex brings extensive international expertise to the Conflict table. His work has taken him to more than 70 countries, and into some of the most politically sensitive regions on earth.

Alongside his filmmaking career, Alex is a seasoned consultant to private sector, non-profit and government organisations across four continents on how to conduct responsible business in fragile environments.

After studying history and politics at the University of Cambridge, Alex advised senior executives from the world’s largest natural resource firms - including Anglo American, Rio Tinto, BP and Shell - on country-entry and social license to operate issues across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

In 2013 he relocated to Myanmar (Burma), where he advised the national government on developing their natural resource framework. Whilst in Myanmar, he became a recognised expert on the country’s history, and acted as an advisor to the UK’s Department for International Development, the United Nations, the US State Department and more.

Since leaving Myanmar in 2019, he has continued to advise major multinational organisations – from Meta to Save the Children - on human rights, license-to-operate and key governance risks in Myanmar and beyond.
